Markus Eisenbichler takes the qualification victory at the Olympic hill ahead of Ryoyu Kobayashi and DSV colleague Karl Geiger. Thus the DSV eagles have a good start into the new year.
The 100th New Year's ski jumping in Garmisch-Partenkirchen is started! In bright sunshine the athletes jump two training jumps before the qualification. After good training jumps Markus Eisenbichler succeeds in winning the qualification. The athlete from Siegsdorf secured the victory with 137 meters ahead of Japan's Ryoyu Kobayashi, the current leader. Karl Geiger from Oberstdorf completes the strong German result with third place.
Among the Poles, Piotr Żyła is back in the top. He succeeded in good training jumps and in the qualification it was enough for 5th place.
Tomorrow at 2 p.m. it will be about the victory of the second tour station! We are excited.
For Japan's Ryoyu Kobayashi a 5th place at the Epiphany Jumping in Bischofshofen is enough for an unchallenged victory in the overall ranking.

A very unusual ski jumping day with a well-known winner is behind us. Training, qualification and competition and all that in only one day - the post race victory was again won by Ryoyu Kobayashi from Japan.
