Dr. Peter Kruijer from the Oberstdorf Ski Club is the new President of the Four Hills Tournament. The presidents of the partner clubs from Oberstdorf, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Innsbruck and Bischofshofen appointed the 63-year-old as successor to Johann Pichler (Bischofshofen), who held the office for the past three years. At the same time, the office of the Four Hills Tournament will also move from Bischofshofen to Oberstdorf.

"I am looking forward to this task and am aware of the special responsibility. After all, the Four Hills Tournament is the premium product of winter sports," explained Dr. Kruijer as he took over the Tournament eagle from Pichler at the symbolic assumption of office.

Together with his colleagues Michael Maurer (Partenkirchen Ski Club) and Alfons Schranz (Bergisel Sports Club), Dr. Kruijer thanked his predecessor Johann Pichler and his wife Erika for their valuable work over the past years. "You have really managed every challenge, no matter how difficult, and harmonized excellently as a team. The bar is set high. But that only spurs us Oberstdorfers on even more," said Dr. Kruijer with a grin in the direction of his predecessor. Pichler, meanwhile, is looking forward to retirement: He was active in the Bischofshofen Ski Club for over 40 years and has now handed over the office of executive president to his successor Manfred Schützenhofer.

With Dr. Peter Kruijer, a chairman of SC Oberstdorf is at the helm of the Four Hills Tournament for the second time in its almost 70-year history. Pe Horle had already held the office from 2006 to 2010. It is also a homecoming for the office. It was already located in Oberstdorf at the Skisport- und Veranstaltungs GmbH from 2006 to 2015.

Like his predecessor, Dr. Peter Kruijer is a man of practical experience. The 63-year-old has been chairman of SC Oberstdorf since 2012 and since then has not only been head of the organizing committee for the opening jump of the Four Hills Tournament, but also for many other World Cups in Oberstdorf, such as ski flying, women's ski jumping and also the Tour de Ski. Before that, the orthopedic surgeon worked for more than 35 years as a race doctor and, since 1990, as head of the medical department at the World Cup events in Oberstdorf. His tour career began in 1974 as a member of the volunteer fire department; at the age of 17, Dr. Kruijer was in charge of the barrier service. Dr. Kruijer was also present at the three Nordic World Ski Championships and the ski flying title competitions, in 1987 even in a double function: in the morning as a judge at the cross-country skiing, in the afternoon as a doctor in the ski jumping stadium.

The tournament is a matter of the heart and family for the Kruijers: Wife Gabi Kruijer has been coordinating the doping controls for many years and is supported by son Christian. Daughter Nicola is involved as a doctor and also in doping control.
