The Bergisel ski stadium was completely modernized in 2002 at a total cost of around twelve million euros. At the explicit request of the city of Innsbruck, an international expert consultation had already been put out to tender in 1999, to which six prominent domestic and foreign architects were invited.

The professional jury unanimously selected the proposal by London-based architecture firm Zaha Hadid from the projects submitted. In addition to the futuristically designed inrun tower and an adjustment of the landing profile, a climbing aid and a mat support were built in several construction phases.

Innsbruck

Provincial capital of Tirol

Innsbruck is the capital of the federal state of Tirol in Austria. It is located in the heart of Tirol in the middle of the Alps and has around 120,000 inhabitants. The combination of university, culture, nature and sports facilities makes Innsbruck a popular vacation destination.

The proximity and imposing scenery of the numerous sports venues (Bergisel Stadium, Patscherkofel, Nordkette, etc.) to the center of Innsbruck is unique. Innsbruck is the first city to host the Olympic Games for the third time (Winter Olympic Games 1964, 1976, Winter Youth Olympic Games 2012).

Ski jumping in Innsbruck

In 1927, the first Bergisel ski jumping competition was held on the natural ski jumping hill on January 23. The distance of the winner was 47.5 meters. When the Four Hills Tournament was launched on January 1, 1953, 50 jumpers from six European countries competed in the German-Austrian ski jumping tour. The Winter Olympics were held in Innsbruck in 1964 and 1976.

In addition to the traditional annual “Bergisel Jumping” as part of the Four Hills Tournament, the Bergisel ski jumping hill has hosted the Nordic World Ski Championships, European Cup competitions, the Winter Universiade, the FIS Summer Grand Prix and the Austrian Championships. The backdrop and the Nordkette mountain range of the city of Innsbruck from the inrun tower and the unique bowl-shaped Bergisel stadium make every ski jumping event an unforgettable sporting event.

Hints

By train: free travel with the admission ticket with VVT & IVB
Your Four Hills Tournament ticket will not only bring you to the world's best ski jumpers in the Bergisel stadium in Innsbruck this year, but also allows you to travel comfortably, sustainably and free of charge. Your admission ticket for the 73rd Four Hills Tournament is also a ticket for the local public transport in Tyrol for getting to and from the event, including the central zone of the IVB Innsbruck (except ÖBB IC, ÖBB EC, ÖBB Railjet und WESTbahn).

Additionally there is a shuttle bus leaving from bus platform A (behind route 504) from Innsbruck mainstation to the Bergisel - 1,5h before and after the event (not during the event!). Then it's just a 10min walk to the stadium entrance.

You can also reach Bergisel on foot from the main station: when you leave the station building, simply follow Südbahnstraße southwards. You will then come to the Grassmair junction on Südring. Cross this in a southerly direction and follow the road to Wiltener Basilika. Follow the signs there. The ascent to the stadium takes 10-15 minutes.

By car / Parking
Due to the limited parking possibilities we recommend Park'n'Ride. Parking is available at the Olympic Ice Stadium (located directly on the Südring) and at the Hafen event center (at the end of the Innrain). There you can easily change to public transportation (streetcar line 1, bus line C or T). On the day of the competition, parking is possible on one side of the Brennerbundesstraße. Access to the Brennerbundesstraße in the direction of Innsbruck will be closed from 9.00 am on the day of the competition (04.01.2025). You can find a map on www.vierschanzentournee-innsbruck.com
