The Paul-Außerleitner-Schanze in Bischofshofen

The Paul-Außerleitner-Schanze in Bischofshofen is named after the Austrian ski jumper Paul Außerleitner. The ski jumper from the Bischofshofen Ski Club fell so badly on January 5, 1952 that he passed away due to his injuries a few days later. With a hill size of 142 and a hill record of 145 meters, it is one of the largest ski jumping hills in the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup. The original natural ski jumping hill from 1947 was constantly renovated over the decades and finally received a completely new profile with a reinforced concrete take-off in 2003. Year after year, the Paul-Außerleitner-Schanze attracts thousands of ski jumping fans from all over the world for the grand finale of the Four Hills Tournament. The Paul-Außerleitner-Schanze is located in the Sepp-Bradl-Stadium, which was named after the first winner of the tour, Sepp “Buwi” Bradl.

Bischofshofen

World-famous for the annual final of the Four Hills Tournament and surrounded by the imposing mountain world lies the sports and vacation town of Bischofshofen. Bischofshofen was first mentioned in documents in the 8th century as part of the founding of the Maximilian monastery.
