Full house on the Schattenberg: Oberstdorf sold out

The opening competition of the Four Hills Tournament in Oberstdorf is already sold out.

Full house on the Schattenberg: Oberstdorf sold out
The organisers of the opening competition of the 73rd Four Hills Tournament in Oberstdorf can look forward to a full house of 25,500 visitors earlier than ever before. There are already no tickets left for the competition on 29 December - not even three weeks after the start of advance sales. The other venues Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Innsbruck and Bischofshofen are also reporting stronger demand than in previous years.

"We are really overwhelmed. The summer ski jumping Grand Prix is still going on and already all the tickets are gone. That's amazing,” says Georg Geiger, Chairman of the Oberstdorf Ski Club. He advises all ski jumping fans to get their tickets for the qualification quickly. Because this is also more in demand in Oberstdorf than anywhere else in the world. Last year, 16,300 visitors came to the World Championship ski jumping arena on Schattenberg on December 28.

Over 100,000 spectators expected
Tickets for the qualification in Oberstdorf and the remaining stages of the 73rd Four Hills Tournament are still available at www.vierschanzentournee.com. The organizers of the ski jumping highlight are also expecting well-filled stadiums with over 100,000 spectators this winter.

Innsbruck at the weekend
For the New Year's ski jumping event in Garmisch-Partenkirchen on January 1, requests for tickets are also higher than last year. “It can continue like this,” says ski club chairman Michael Maurer. The organizers are hoping for the weekend effect at the Bergisel Ski Jump in Innsbruck. “This winter, the competition is on a Saturday, which is sure to attract more ski jumping fans than on a weekday,” says Maximilian Obergruber, head of the organizing committee.

Duel of the eagles
Tournament President Manfred Schützenhofer hopes that at least one German and one Austrian eagle will be competing for overall victory by the final in Bischofshofen. “Then we'll have a full house too,” says Schützenhofer, who is also President of the Bischofshofen Ski Club. It would certainly be time for a victory for the two host nations. The last Austrian tour winner to date is Stefan Kraft, who won exactly ten years ago (2014/15), while ski jumping Germany has been waiting an eternity (Sven Hannawald, 2001/02) for a tour victory. Last year, Japan's Ryoyu Kobayashi won ahead of Andreas Wellinger (Germany) and Stefan Kraft.
