Karl Geiger has evidently managed to keep his good form of Oberstdorf. The young German has won the qualification for the New Year‘s Jumping Event.

His jump to 139 meters was sufficent to surpass Philipp Aschenwald (Austria) who had been flying one more meter but did not get the same good marks. The third rank was shared by Ryoyu Kobayashi (Japan) and Peter Prevc (Slovenia). 

10.000 spectators were enjoying themselves in the perfect conditions – and it will only get better on tomorrow‘s New Year‘s Day. There are some interesting duels waiting for them: Gregor Schlierenzauer will have the same opponent as in the first competition of the Four Hills Tournament – his Austrian team mate Stefan Kraft. And also Moritz Baer (Germany) will have to face one of his own: Winner Karl Geiger. 

The trial round will start on 12.30 pm on Tuesday, followed by the competiton at 2 pm. There are still tickets available on spot.
