Ryoyu Kobayashi and the Four Hills Tournament, this has been and still is a love story. In Oberstdorf, the Japanese has won his fifth Four Hills competition in a row.

After the trial round, a surprise seemed to be coming: Pius Paschke shocked everyone with 135 meters, Peter Prevc showed the second best jump. The two were followed by Karl Geiger, Markus Eisenbichler and Ryoyu Kobayashi, who all ended up with the same amount of points.

After two competition rounds, though, the favourites were back on top. Kobayashi took things up right where he had left them in Bischofshofen in January. Karl Geiger who had on previous occasions not been able to have the nervs to show his best jumps in front of his home crowd did just that. The podium was completed by Dawid Kubacki.

Once again, the Audi Arena of Oberstdorf was completely sold out. 25.500 spectators and lovely weather made the beginning of the Four Hills Tournament a full success. Tomorrow (Monday) will be without competitions, the jumpers will travel to Garmisch-Partenkirchen where the qualification for the New Year‘s Jumping Event takes place on Tuesday.
