The 68th Four Hills Tournament is on. Stefan Kraft winning the qualification of Oberstdorf was not a big surprise – what happened behind that was, though.
Because 15.500 spectators got to watch a Kobayashi fly to rank two – just not the one they had anticipated with Junshiro, for the day, stealing the show of his little brother and reigning Four Hills Champion Ryoyu (who still ended up on rank four, though). The place in between the two brothers was taken by Stephan Leyhe.
Others were struggling. The Polish ski jumping legend Kamil Stoch (22th) and Daniel-André Tande (46th) did not show their best performances, Richard Freitag (Germany) and Daniel Huber (Austria) even missed the competition which is set to begin tomorrow at 5.30 pm.
